Good afternoon Hawk Families,We had an incredible turnout for our Back to School Night on Monday, and it was exciting to see so many students, families, teachers, and community members come together. The evening was informative, welcoming, and full of Hawk pride! A special thank you goes to our PTO for hosting the Ice Cream Social. We also appreciate the leadership students from Los Arboles Middle School who volunteered their time to help serve our families. We are grateful to all of our community partners who joined us and helped make the evening special, including our friends from the Marina Fire Department. Events like these remind us that our school is strongest when we come together as a community!
While there was plenty happening outside the classroom, our teachers continued their important work inside the classroom as well. During our Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), teachers examined student data, refined lesson plans, and identified areas where additional support may be needed. This work helps ensure that we are reaching all students, addressing their individual learning needs, and staying on pace with grade-level learning as we are focused on GLEAM ensuring that our student experience is grade-level, engaging, affirming, and meaningful.
As we head into the long weekend, we want to take a moment to recognize and appreciate the hard work and contributions of the people who help make our communities strong. We hope our students, families, and staff enjoy a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved Labor Day weekend.
Reminder: There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. We look forward to welcoming our Hawks back to campus on Tuesday, September 8. And Hawks, be sure to arrive on time Tuesday! Students who arrive early will be treated to a special Hawk Chocolate Day as we celebrate being back together!
September is Attendance Awareness Month! As we return to school, let's continue making attendance a priority. Every day at school is another opportunity to learn, build friendships, participate in activities, and be part of our Hawk community. We are excited to see our students each and every day and look forward to celebrating improved attendance throughout the month! Thank you, Marina Vista families, for your continued support.
Have a safe, relaxing, and wonderful Labor Day weekend! We’ll see you Tuesday, Hawks!

Marina Vista's Daily Attendance Goal is 96% & Chronic Absenteeism Goal is 10% or Less
|
The graph below represents Marina Vista's average daily attendance (ADA) for each day of the month, as well as our current chronic absenteeism (missing 10% or more of school) rate. Monday's continue to be one of our most impacted days but this Tuesday and Thursday were as well. Please let us know how we can support you in getting to school daily, and on time. Be sure to ask our team about Short Term Independent Study if you are in need.

Attendance Matters Please emphasize the importance of attending classes, being on time and being mentally present throughout the day.
Our attendance rate schoolwide in August was 93.7%, which is less than last year in August 2025 when it was 95.5%. In September 2025, our attendance rate was 95.4%, therefore we need to keep getting to school ontime to improve year over year. Let's start a strong trend and make September a great month!
For your information, if you are planning on missing for any stretch of time, please contact our front office clerk aceralde@mpusd.k12.ca.us to initiate a Short-Term Independent Study Contract, which can help reduce absences and increase our Average Daily Attendance (ADA).
