Hawk Highlights
What a great week at Marina Vista! We are excited to see the uptick in attendance this week as we close out Attendance Awareness Month. While September may be coming to an end, our commitment to attendance continues all year long. Every day counts! We know that important learning, connections, and experiences are happening in our classrooms every day, and we want our Hawks here, ready to learn and grow. This weekend be sure to come out for our Family Fun Day this Saturday here at Marina Vista. It will be a great day!
Next week, we will celebrate two very special members of our Marina Vista family as they begin their retirement. Mrs. Lori Foreman, our Librarian, and Mrs. Susie Kolonics, our School Office Supervisor, have dedicated their time, energy, and hearts to Marina Vista and to our children. Please join us in expressing our gratitude, appreciation, and congratulations to both of these amazing women. Their commitment to our students and school community has made a lasting difference, and they will certainly be missed! If you see Mrs. Foreman or Mrs. Kolonics on campus, please take a moment to wish them well and thank them for all they have done for our Hawks.
Next week we will also start the with some Hawk spirit! Monday is Manic Color Monday, and students are invited to wear the color associated with their grade level. Check out the flyer below for your grade-level color and join us for a colorful start to the week!

Clubs at Marina Vista!We are excited to kick off another great year of Marina Vista After School Clubs! Our clubs are a fun way for students to explore new interests, build friendships, and learn something new outside of the regular school day.
All clubs will meet after school from 2:30–3:30 p.m. on their specified day.

Marina Vista's Daily Attendance Goal is 96% & Chronic Absenteeism Goal is 10% or Less

The graph below represents Marina Vista's average daily attendance (ADA) for each day of the month, as well as our current chronic absenteeism (missing 10% or more of school) rate. Please let us know how we can support you in getting to school daily, and on time. We are trending up, keep up the great work. Be sure to ask our team about Short Term Independent Study if you are in need.

 Speak Up uses our existing communication infrastructure to message, call or email administrators directly with confidential tips that come in. You can access this via email, text or phone call.
You can also visit our school or district website to report a tip. The benefit is that this new process will make it easier for students or families to report a confidential tip.

Your Voice Matters: YouthTruth Survey Coming Soon!
We want to hear from our Marina Vista families! The YouthTruth Family Survey will be coming out soon (Monday) and provides families with an opportunity to share feedback about your experiences with our school and help us understand what we are doing well and where we can continue to grow.
The survey will be open September 28–October 30, 2026, and takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete. It can be completed on any internet-enabled device and is available in English, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, and French. English and Spanish also offer text-to-speech support.

CELL PHONE POLICY *Reminder* -
California law states that students cannot have their cell phones during instructional time. At Marina Vista, students are expected to turn in their cell phones and or have them off and away during academic and non-academic time. This includes all two way communication devices including but not limited to phones, watches, ipads, computers, e.t.c.
Cell phones may not be used during a break from the classroom such as a bathroom or water break. (If needed students can report to the administrative office with teacher/staff permission in order to use a phone).
*Any student on their phone or smartwatch and out of class during class time will have their phone and or device taken by a campus supervisor and or staff and turned into the office for parent pick-up.
Any device with camera, video, or voice recording function shall not be used in any manner which infringes on the privacy rights of any other person. No student shall be prohibited from possessing or using an electronic signaling device that is determined by a licensed physician or surgeon to be essential for the student's health and the use of which is limited to purposes related to the student's health. (Education Code 48901.5)
