Do you have a kindergartener this school year? (NOTE: This also applies to transitional kindergarten classes at Crumpton Elementary, La Mesa School and Monte Vista TK-8 School as they have more than one transitional kindergarten class.)
This school year, teachers and staff will get to meet you and your kindergarten student during the first two weeks of school (Wednesday, August 7 - Friday, August 16, 2024).
Our kindergarten team will work together to evaluate each student for the best classroom placement.
School will be half-day and afterschool care will be available.
Parents will drop their student off on the first day and stop by the school cafeteria for a parent orientation and a chance to ask questions.
We’ll also schedule a parent interview to learn more about your child, their strengths, areas for growth, and their hopes for a wonderful school year.
After the first two weeks, we’ll announce your child’s teacher for the rest of the year. Last school year, MPUSD tested this new approach at six schools including Del Rey Woods Elementary, La Mesa School, the Dual Language Academy of the Monterey Peninsula, Marshall Elementary, Olson Elementary, and Ord Terrace Elementary schools.
Our schools will also hold a special meet and greet event before the first day of school.
